Cavendish Cancer Care's Young People's Service

Cavendish Cancer Care are a local charity based in Sheffield which support people with the effects that cancer has on their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Within this service, Cavendish Cance Care operates the Children & Young People’s Service which offers specialist support to young people from the ages of 4 to 18 years, whose lives have been affected by cancer. This includes those who have had cancer themselves, as well as those who have been affected by the illness within the family. The service works with young people living in South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire and provides individually tailored support to help alleviate the emotional impact of cancer.

Cavendish Cancer Care is funded almost entirely by the generosity of the local public. They are a local, independent charity, largely reliant on fundraising and donations.

In June, YesTax donated £600 towards providing resources for the Children and Young People’s Service. In addition, earlier in the year, we supported Imogen Williams to volunteer for the day to work at their office in Sheffield.

The work delivered by the Cavendish Cancer Care is invaluable. The therapists are qualified in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, Non-Directive Play Therapy and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and have knowledge of child development, attachment theory and developmental trauma to inform their approach to supporting families.

We are proud to support such a worthwhile cause.
