Christmas is a time for giving. This Christmas, YesTax has given £10,580 to help secure 21 little girls in Nepal.

What normally sets a company out from another? Size? Workforce? Profitability? Well YesTax are here to say that a company’s worth isn’t based solely upon its commercial success, but the good that can come out of it.

Our money has funded the security of 21 little girls, including providing eye and medical-checks, the integration of 2 girls back to their families, the rescuing of 2 more vulnerable children and countless awareness programmes. YesTax are taking part in a much larger world game. Studies all over the world show that child sponsorship is one of the most effective ways of ending poverty.

The ethos of the company is simple - for every success, however small it is, we will aid those that need support the most.

It doesn’t stop there. We don’t just donate, we go one step further by getting involved in the worthy causes ourselves on the ground.

Following a visit to Nepal in 2018, YesTax Development Advisor, Alison Ralston, saw the devastation caused by sexual violence towards the children of Nepal, and how much it affected their lives moving forward from such appalling acts. Having been completely moved by the experience, Alison and YesTax decided to support these children in Nepal through their foundation, The Guiding Light. Their mission is threefold.

Firstly, YesTax and the Guiding Light felt they needed to give security to the victims of sexual abuse by funding the safe-houses. This is especially important considering the perpetrator of these crimes tend to be relatives, and remaining in their own home would be harrowing for the victims, adding to their peril.

Secondly, we are fully committed to not just funding the security of these vulnerable children, but also providing them with the tools to not be defined by the abuse they have suffered. This means giving the children access to education, and the opportunity of normal child development - something they desperately lacked in their previous life.

And finally, we are committed to helping to reduce sexual abuse in Nepal 2030 by funding awareness programmes. We don’t have normal KPIs. Instead, we measure ourselves by the impacts that we are able to make. In the last quarter, we have helped fund awareness programmes in 3 schools, 2 communities ,1 teacher train-ing course where 40 teachers participated and 1 mothers’ group where 30 mothers were participated. This has impacted 492 beneficiaries directly and 1,476 indirectly.

Nepal has sparked a flame within our company that will not be extinguished very easily. Everyone at YesTax is committed to making business as a force for good and we will continue our work far into the future.
