Food Keeps South African Children in School
Our aim is to change lives everyday just by doing what we are doing.
This month we are so delighted to be funding nutritious lunches for a primary school in a township in South Africa for at least six months. One of our directors had personally visited the school a few years ago and was shocked to hear that the jam sandwich that the children received at school would be the only school meal the majority of the children would eat that day. Having pledged to help one day, the foundation set up by YesTax has finally made this possible.
Hungry children in deprived areas of the world are exceptionally vulnerable. Providing a meal at school is a simple but effective way to give a vulnerable child a chance to learn and thrive. As a result of YesTax’s funding, children are enrolling and staying in school, enticed by the daily lunch they receive. Education is an important step in reviving prosperity in South Africa and poor nutrition is a big problem.
We look forward to hearing back from the school shortly so that we can see the impacts we are making to the children.
