Fun day of activities for foster children
The pandemic has led to the postponement or cancellation of a number of our active charity events, so it is wonderful to report that this month we sent 23 young foster children for a fun day of activities on the water at Ulley reservoir near our offices in Sheffield. The water events were led by the qualified outdoor education team at Wickersley Partnership Trust, supported all day by Team Affinity 2020 CIC.
We are also proud to have sponsored the commissioning of artwork that depicts the day so beautifully.
Some of the children started the day stating they did not want to get wet! By the end of the day, they were jumping off the jetty with their life jackets on and the screams of joy were infectious. One of the youngsters said "I think the best bit was going under the bridge as a team. I thought I would be worried going on the canoe, but I loved it. It was really good getting to know other kids who also have foster carers."
By the end of the day, each young child gained a certificate of reward. It goes without saying that we would like to support and plan the same again for 2022.
Without the support from our referral partners, clients and our team we are not able to plan and fund such events which make a huge difference to the mental health of vulnerable children in our society. Thank you for your continued support!
