Happy 3rd Birthday YesTax!
Three years ago today, YesTax was formed. From our humble beginnings in the tiny rented office space in Sheffield, we’ve experienced many highs during this remarkable period in modern history. The company was only 13 months old when the Covid-19 pandemic struck yet has been fortunate enough to thrive in some of the most turbulent economic times in living memory.
The past 12 months has continued our transition from a start-up micro business to a well-established, highly reputable tax advisory firm. In July 2021 we moved into our new home in Westbrook Court, Sheffield. With the freedom to create our own working space, it’s a place we can truly call our own and is enjoyed by staff and clients alike. At the same time, we expanded our advisory offering with the appointment of Callum Byers ACA CTA as Head of Capital Allowances – a move which has added diversification and a valuable new revenue stream to the company. Shortly after Callum’s appointment, we enhanced our software R&D tax relief advisory skills with the appointment of James Smith. James joined the firm as a computer science graduate with two years’ experience advising on R&D tax relief claims.
Our charitable giving has continued at full speed over the past year. To date we’ve given over £147,000 to charities around the world. We’re the only professional services company in the UK which gives 2.5% of its turnover to good causes and we’ve embedded charitable giving into the core of the company. It’s something we’re extremely proud of.
In November 2021, we were finally able to celebrate the Tolley’s Taxation and Accounting Excellence awards we picked up during the lockdowns of 2020. In December 2021, we were shortlisted amongst a huge number of entrants for the highly prestigious SME of the Year at the Sheffield Business Awards. Finally, in late 2021, we were once again able to celebrate Christmas properly with a wonderful staff meal in the Peak District.
As we celebrate our third birthday, we want to say a huge thank you to all staff, clients and corporate partners for making YesTax what it is today. As we look to the future, a repeat of the past 3 years would be lovely, with the exception of a novel respiratory disease wreaking havoc across the globe!
