Helping Hard Hit Families
Last year was a tough time for everyone and the Covid-19 pandemic continues to have a devasting impact on the most vulnerable in society. Once again, we want to say a huge thank you to you to our clients and referral partners for making a difference to so many. By working together, we have generated over £90,000 of charitable giving for vulnerable families and their children.
A major concern of the pandemic has been children being unable to access education due to an absence of adequate IT equipment at home. We liaised with local schools to see what was needed and how we could assist. They advised us of the most suitable equipment which would facilitate effective education in a home setting. The objective was to minimise lost learning and narrow the technology divide for children living in poverty.
In February alone we have:
- Supplied 30 tablets and WIFI dongles to Y1 and Y2 children at Arbourthorne School, Sheffield
- Provided 12 tablets and 12 WIFI dongles / WIFI access for pupils of Wybourne School, Sheffield.
- Collected donations for 26 food and care packages for the vulnerable families.
- Bought a fridge freezer for a family that did not have one.
- Paid for a taxi for 3 children to get to school as their usual mode of public transport had been disrupted due to the pandemic.
- Provided a washing machine to a family who, due to the pandemic, were struggling financially.
- Purchased a toddler bed and stairgate for a young child who had been sleeping on the floor.
We received several phone calls of thanks following the deliveries and one message which really brought it home to us. ' Since being furloughed money has been really tight. We don't have anything left. You have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you.'
