£250,000 to support education for vulnerable children

YesTax has donated a quarter of a million pounds to charity in a little under 4 years and much of the funding has gone to help fund education for vulnerable children.
The funds we have donated to the Guiding Light are partially used to educate and inform the adults that affect the lives of the children that come to our safe house. Binita and her team at our safe house, Antardristi Nepal work with these children’s families to help them to understand the effects their behaviour has on the future generation and the damage that is caused. Information sessions are also held for Parents, Staff, Women’s Groups, Schools and even the Police.
To support our children through their trauma, they are provided with counselling sessions which are held on a one-to-one basis and/or in a group environment where appropriate.
Binita says "We have been working with four schools on awareness classes. During these sessions, we asked students to pick a different feeling card, and almost everyone picked a negative emotion on their card. After further work with these students, across the four schools, we were able to identify 20 abuse cases. We did instant counselling sessions with them and are expecting to receive some of these children into our safe house".
“This quarter we conducted an awareness program on International Women’s Day to the women of the Lalitpur area of Nepal. A total of 38 women took part. We were able to focus on mental health issues that manifest in people who have been sexually abused. Many of these women had been abused themselves so we were able to show them different documentaries and facilitated group activities to provide them with coping mechanisms. The entire program was very interactive, and the majority of the women participated and share their experiences”
