Why Doing Good is Good for Business

In September 2015 the United Nations introduced 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

They were motivated by the need to crystalise global efforts to improve life for all 7 Billion plus inhabitants of this planet by the year 2030.

United Nations - end poverty in all its forms everywhere

Imagine a world where every business leader adopted this idea. The support of businesses, large and small, must be a motive force behind positive change.

It is no longer acceptable for business to concern itself merely with profit. Financial capacity is what enables businesses to deliver special value to their stakeholders. However, a company's success is no longer measured by its financial performance alone. Business has a social conscience and a responsibility to drive progressive change.

Every business has the power to integrate giving into its everyday activities. This has the potential to influence so many lives for the better. At YesTax, we donate 2.5% of all our fees to children who live in poverty. This is not just another corporate responsibility programme. We take an active role in the projects that we support by working in them. As of the end of April, we are proud to announce that we have reached £100,000 of giving.

We will continue to proceed under the assumption that doing good is a fundamental duty of modern corporate life. We will also never accept that you are too small to make a difference. Taking moral responsibility for the improvement of the world we live in is an infectious quality. Little by little the efforts of individual businesses can create the momentum we need to improve our world.
